One question that has come up: why do we require a manual activation?  A lot of forum packages are being “attacked” by spammers.  While SMF does a decent job on its own, it is easier for our staff to manually activate all accounts as they come in, so we can keep spammers out of our form.  We have methods in place to weed out the automated “spambot” computers, but there are now individuals signing up at forums manually just to open the door for future spamming.
